Hexis 'Abalam' 12" Picture Disc

Hexis is five piece band from Copenhagen, Denmark who formed in 2010. Hexis play a dark and unsettling style of hardcore tinged black metal. Hexis' sound is raw, unrelenting, and unnerving. Hexis' sound features walls of crushing guitars, double bass, and fierce drumming that overpowers the listener with the sheer heaviness of their sound. The vibe of the music is incredible and leaves you feeling claustrophobic and buried underneath the oppressiveness their sound. Musically, Hexis can be said to fit in with bands such as Ancestors, Black September, and Church Whip. Abalam is the band's latest full-length LP, which was released via Halo Of Flies and Music Fear Satan records on January 11th, 2014. To give you a little insight into how bleak this album is, the title of the album is derived from the demon Abalam. Abalam is a King of Hell and an assistant to Paimon. Abalam takes possession of an individual's body with the intent of making the person commit the sin of lust. Abalam would defile humans during possession and the only way for a person to escape Abalam during possession was death. So if that mythology is any indication of how dark, negative, and oppressive this album is, you'd be hard pressed to find a more unsettling album this year. Seriously, I've been listening to this album for quite some time now, and I keep finding more layers to this band's sound with each listen. (Manic Compression)
